Meet The Roots Behind
Rising Roots was created by Angela Means, a licensed cosmetologist, licensed instructor, author, and mentor with over 15 years of experience. Guided by the legacy of her great-grandmother and aunt, Angela transformed a family tradition of care into a youth program that unites natural hair education, healing, and leadership. Her work spans behind-the-chair expertise and classroom teaching, which ensures every lesson is both accurate and deeply human. Learning Angela's story helps families and partners understand why this program is rooted in service, culture, and long-term community impact.
