Rising Roots Book
The Rising Roots Book is our heart on paper-a guiding voice for youth learning to understand their natural hair, their history, and themselves. Written in clear, encouraging language, it gently walks readers through hair basics, from texture and porosity to healthy daily habits.
Alongside practical tips, we share stories and history that connect natural hair to Black heritage, creativity, and resilience. Young readers see their coils, curls, and kinks reflected with respect, not as a problem to fix. This builds pride, softens negative self-talk, and helps them push back against harmful beauty messages.
Parents, educators, and youth leaders use this book as a conversation starter, a read-along resource, or a foundation for group discussions about identity and self-worth. On its own, it supports better hair care at home; paired with our workbook and classes, it becomes part of a full pathway into leadership, confidence, and cultural awareness.
